Can I Use the New Windows Vista?

Compatibility with Windows Vista has not yet been confirmed, so at this time we do NOT recommend users upgrade to Vista or purchase a PC with Vista on it.

Known Issues with Windows XP and 2K

(1) The main menu sporadically loses focus when returning from other screens when running under Windows XP or 2000. This is not a problem on a Windows 9x machine.  You simply need to click back in the window to make it active again.

(2) If your screen resolution is set to 800 x 600, you must have Windows XP set to run in classic mode in order for your Alteris screens to display correctly.  If you are set to a higher resolution, you may run in the standard XP mode.  This issue was resolved in Alteris BMS v. 7.5.

What Credit Card Processing Software is Supported?

Recommended processing software is X Charge.  Older versions of PC Charge and IC Verify are also supported for backwards compatibility.  WARNING:  Before purchasing or upgrading your credit card processing software, you should contact us to ensure compatibility.

How Do I Change My Address and Phone Number?

You may change your phone number at any time by going to Utilities, Options, Miscellaneous.  Changing your address, however, requires that you receive new run time codes.  DO NOT attempt to change your address without contacting NovaTek first.  Any change to your address will set your program back into DEMO mode.  To request an address change, go to Utilities, Tools, Re-Register.  A re-registration form will now print; simply follow the instructions on this form.

If you simply desire an alternative "remit to" address to print on your statements, you may enter this address by going to Utilities, Options, Miscellaneous.

Common Problems and Fixes

(1)  Experiencing a Crash After Right After Downloading an Update
Make sure you have run upgrade data files.  Updates often include new features which require changes to the structure of your files.  Upgrading will incorporate these changes into your existing files.

(2)  Receipts Aren't Printing the Global Discount
Check your products file to ensure there are no blank records.  Blank records would be located at the very beginning of the file.  (When you go to inventory, do not search; if you have any blank records, they will be the first records you see.)  Delete any blanks and then run a single file upgrade on the products file.
